Visual Binary — Create, Decode & Play

Hide a message or GPS coordinates in black and white squares. Each group of 8 squares represents one byte, read left to right: dark = 1, light = 0. Create printable geocaching challenges, edit grids by tapping squares, or try a random puzzle.

Create a visual binary puzzle

Puzzles use UTF-8 text encoding. Each row is one byte. For ordinary English letters and digits, one byte usually represents one character. Coordinates are treated as text, not a numerical GPS format.

How visual binary works

The character A has the UTF-8 byte 01000001. A visual row showing light, dark, light, light, light, light, light, dark represents the same pattern. A full message is simply several 8-bit rows. You can paste binary from other puzzles, tap an individual square to correct a damaged pattern, or generate a new grid for a geocache listing.
