How to play Tents and Trees
- Every tree has exactly one tent paired with it, in a square directly above, below, left, or right of that tree.
- Every tent must be paired with one tree. Each tree and tent can be used in only one pair.
- Tents cannot touch, including diagonally. Trees may be next to each other.
- The numbers on the right tell you how many tents are in each row. Numbers along the bottom tell you how many are in each column.
- Put tents in the correct places. You can mark squares as grass if you're sure they cannot contain tents. The answer checker accepts any arrangement satisfying all these rules, not just a saved layout.
Tips for solving
Start with any row or column showing 0: it has no tents. Then look for trees that only have one available neighboring square. When you place a tent, exclude all eight surrounding squares.
Some trees may touch more than one tent; that is allowed only if every tree can still be paired with a different tent.
