Choose a character or toggle any segment.

Segment order: a, b, c, d, e, f, g. Mask uses bit 0 = first segment. Copy hex or binary output when creating LED, Arduino, or geocaching display puzzles.

Using segment displays in geocaching puzzles

A seven-segment display is commonly used for digits on clocks, calculators, and electronic locks. Fourteen- and sixteen-segment displays have extra bars for more recognizable letters. Enter a code, then switch off a few segments and challenge someone to identify the intended number.

Hardware note: Hex masks on this page follow the displayed segment labels, not a particular chip's pin order. Actual LED driver wiring can use a different pin/bit order, and anode/cathode polarity may reverse the required logic. Use your driver datasheet for physical wiring.
