Magic Eye Maker

Hide a word, number or image silhouette inside a repeating 3D autostereogram. Make a mystery geocache clue, share the illusion, or download it as a PNG.

1. Choose what to hide

Short, bold text works best. Up to 32 characters; longer text appears smaller.

2. Customize the Magic Eye

More depth makes the secret stand out, but can be harder to fuse.

Fine patterns are best viewed at full size.

3. Your hidden 3D image

Relax your eyes to reveal the hidden shape.960 × 560

The PNG contains the full-resolution generated image, not a screenshot of the page.

How to see the hidden 3D image

View the image at a comfortable size, about an arm’s length from your eyes. Look through the image as though focusing on a point beyond the screen; do not try to focus on the individual dots. Let adjacent repeating patterns merge until the hidden shape appears in 3D.

With viewing dots enabled, gently relax your eyes until the pair of dots appears to overlap. This uses parallel (wall-eyed) viewing. If you only see a flat pattern, try moving slightly farther from the screen or using a larger display.

Not everyone can comfortably see autostereograms. Avoid prolonged eye strain. The “Show hidden shape” button reveals the solution without requiring stereoscopic viewing.

Tips for geocache puzzle makers

Keep the hidden message short, choose a large canvas, and test the downloaded PNG with another person before publishing a mystery cache. Upload simple high-contrast symbols rather than detailed photographs. The exported Magic Eye image does not visibly show the answer in ordinary 2D viewing.
