Morse Prosigns & Procedural Signals
Morse procedural signal reference for AR, AS, BT, SK, KN, CT, SOS and error signals.
| Prosign / Meaning | Continuous signal |
|---|---|
| AR / End of message | .-.-. |
| AS / Wait | .-... |
| BT / Separator | -...- |
| SK / End of contact | ...-.- |
| KN / Go ahead, named station | -.--. |
| CT / Start transmission | -.-.- |
| SOS / Distress | ...---... |
| Error / eight dots | ........ |
Prosigns are sent with no letter-sized gap between their component characters. For example, AR (.-.-.) is a continuous signal and not two separated letters.
Geocaching tip: A cluster that does not look like a single Morse letter may be a procedural signal rather than a transcription error.
