Bearing & Distance Calculator
Project a waypoint, measure the distance and initial bearing between two GPS positions, or follow several bearings and distances to find a final geocache location. No account or map service required.

About the calculations
Bearings are measured clockwise from true north: 0° north, 90° east, 180° south, 270° west. A “reverse calculation” finds a bearing and distance between two points; the bearing back to the starting point is calculated separately, rather than simply adding 180°.
Calculations use spherical great-circle geometry with a mean Earth radius of 6,371,008.8 m. These results are approximate; very long routes, high-precision surveying, and magnetic-compass navigation may need a different method. Output geocaching coordinates are rounded to three decimal minutes (roughly 1–2 m at mid-latitudes). Keep original unrounded positions for subsequent stages.
